" We witness a miracle every time a child enters into life. But those who make their journey home across time and miles, growing within the hearts of those who wait to love them, are carried on the wings of destiny and placed among us by God's very own hands" --Kristi Larson

First Night Together

Lina loved to see all the new toys, outfit, and shoes!  Speaking of shoes, she loves them!  She is always pointing at shoes in pictures and telling people who bought them for her, her Ayi (Nanny), NaNa (Foster Grandmother), Ma Ma.  So Gramma and Nana in case you were wondering, she wears a size 10!  Her foot is almost as big as Kaylie's who is in an 11!  And think girlie!

She loves to do Ma Ma's hair and her dolls hair.  This is probably her second most favorite activity so far.  Her first being coloring.
We got to skype with Jie Jie Kaylie, Ge Ge Kyle and Kellan.  She smiles and said Ni Hao as well as some stuff in Chinese.  She loves to show off her new family photos to people she meets, pointing out who her sister and brothers are.
She loved her bath!  Bubbles were a hit in the tub!  Mommy is not use to so much thick hair!  I put in too much shampoo and had to rinse and rinse.  She kept saying something in Chinese followed by Ma Ma.  About the fourth time, I figured out she was asking for a towel to wipe her eyes from all the water I was using to get the soap out of her hair.  So funny!  She is very patient with us.
When it was time to sleep, Lina closed her eyes and refused to lay down.  She started to cry and yell for her Na Na and Grandpa.  She cried about 20 minutes until she fell asleep in Mommy's arms.  This was to be expected as she grieves the loss of the family she knew.

Congratulations! I came home in late September (2009) with my Guilin beauty Ava-Meiying, age 7, now 8. I never got to go to Guilin; Ava was brought to Nanning. Your daughter is beautiful and I'm looking frantically thru all my photos to see if I have any photos of your daughter. She looks so familiar to me. Ava grieved terribly, hit her hardest around day 4. I got her some sunglasses and let her use my camera; that seemed to help her detach enough from me to cope with her grief, before she started attaching to me again. I'm excited to follow your journey. Do you know Jean? She is in Guilin also, adopting the two sibling girls (they were friends of my Ava's). Well congrats!! -Sarah

It brought tears to my eyes to see the first pictures of you with Kelina. It's been such a long journey - can't imagine the emotions felt at the moment you first got to touch her and hug her. Congratulations! What a beautiful journey - enjoy the rest of your trip. Safe travels - can't wait to meet Lina!
