We got to fly with quite a few of the families from Nanning to Guangzhou. It was a CRAZY airport experience. We were sent to a gate that had 4 flights leaving at the same time! The attendent announced something in Chinese and a third of the people took off running to another gate. We were worried it might be our flight. Luckily the other Americans arrived with their guide and we did discover that we had less than 5 minutes to get from gate 7 to gate 2 that was upstairs!
Lina was excited when she saw the airplane , "Fei Ji", but once we were on and starting to taxi out she got very quiet and started to cry for her Grandma. She was nervous and probably only wanted her Grandma for comfort in this new scary situation, but Mommy couldn't help but think that she was understanding the reality that we were leaving Guangxi and her Foster Grandma for a very long time. It was hard not to cry with her.
Mommy comforted and distracted her by drawing on the magna doodle. She wouldn't let me stop drawing until 20 minutes later. I think she figured out that everything was going to be okay. She played with her stickers and had a little snack for the rest of the trip.

I cried along with her too!! (Only my crying came a day later.) The transition will take time, but I think the connection is definitely already being made. Benjamin and Nathanael looked at the pictures with me this morning, and we are getting our computer ready this evening so we'll be able to "see" you soon!! Hope you had a great day. (Benjamin was worried, though, because he doesn't know how to say "Benjamin" in Chinese. He wasn't sure how he should introduce himself!) :)
I'm with Ali, I cried too! How tough all of these changes have to be for her, and yet how exciting for her at the same time. I'm loving reading your blog and looking at all of the pictures. It looks like Nanning is a beautiful place. We loved China so much and can't wait to return someday. I am looking so forward to getting all of our China girls together, Kelina is just a week older than Mackenzie. Praying for you all!
